The Saugatuck River still looked swollen Wednesday from heavy rainfall that pounded Westport all day Sunday and into Monday.
On most days, the river is low enough for a kayaker to easily glide under the Post Road East overpass. But Wednesday afternoon, the river was so high, only ducks or geese would be able to comfortably pass underneath the bridge.
Off Ford Road, one of the roads that was flooded Monday, the river practically was up to the top of the banks in some areas.
The National Weather Service is forecasting rain all day Thursday into Friday morning. About 2 to 3 inches of rain is possible. A flood watch is in effect from Thursday morning to Friday morning.
