If you don't frequent the Saugatuck section of Westport, you may soon find a reason to be there with the completion of the Saugatuck Center. After a year of construction, phase one of this mixed-use development was celebrated Thursday by First Selectman Gordon Joseloff and Gault Inc. President Sam Gault, who's family owns the property.
This two-building complex consists of office and retail space, six rental apartments and an underground parking garage. These buildings are the first part of a three-phase project being managed by Hamilton Development, the development arm of Gault Inc. The company is currently awaiting approval to move forward with building a marina at the center.
Down Under, a kayaking and surf shop based in Rowayton, will open next weekend as the development's first retail tenant.
Do you like to kayak? Will the new shop draw you to the new development?
