Samuel Dash, 58, of Freeport, was arrested after officers stopped his vehicle in Massapequa Park and later struggled with him inside the Seventh Precinct on Monday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m., according to police.
Officers initially pulled over Dash after spotting his 2007 GMC Yukon traveling westbound on Sunrise Highway with a cracked side-view mirror, police said. During the stop, officers discovered a counterfeit New York State inspection sticker on the vehicle, resulting in Dash’s arrest without incident, authorities detailed.
The situation turned violent once Dash was brought to the Seventh Precinct, where police say he became combative and fought with officers. Two officers were injured during the struggle and were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said. Dash was also transported to a hospital for evaluation.
Investigators later found Dash in possession of a substance believed to be crack cocaine and multiple pills believed to be Oxycodone, police said.
Dash is charged with two counts of Felony Assault, three counts of Felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Felony Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations, authorities said .
He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, Jan. 13, at First District Court on Main Street in Hempstead, police said.
