Salsa Shack, located at 13817 Route 97 in Long Eddy, will permanently close after service on Sunday, Oct. 11, the business announced on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Until then, Salsa Shack will be open Fridays through Sundays from noon until sundown or until food sells out, weather permitting.

In an emotional farewell to customers, the owners said the decision brings an end to a chapter that grew from an idea and a dream into something much more personal.

“Salsa Shack was never just a business,” they wrote, adding, “It was an idea, a dream, a lot of hard work, and a huge part of our lives.”

The owners recalled initially wondering whether customers would come and enjoy the food before watching many of them turn into familiar faces and friends.

“Some of you brought your children, your parents, your friends, and your neighbors,” they wrote, going on to also say, “Some of you would tell us about your lives, ask about ours, and make us feel like we weren't just serving customers — we were welcoming people into our home.”

Salsa Shack's menu includes chicken, steak, shrimp, veggie and ground beef burritos and quesadillas, along with fajitas, salads and sandwiches. The eatery also serves chips with salsa or guacamole and other sides.

The owners did not give a reason for the closure in their announcement, instead focusing on thanking the customers who supported the business through the years. Although the final season is bittersweet, the owners said the relationships and memories created through Salsa Shack will remain long after its last day.

“Thank you for coming along for the ride. Thank you for believing in us," the owners wrote.
