Due to downed power lines and trees as well as a lack of street lighting, there are still many areas of Rye Brook and Port Chester that are hazardous to walk or travel, officials said. Police are asking parents not to allow children out for trick-or-treating this Halloween.
The Port Chester Recreation Department plans to run a Halloween Program on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Port Chester Senior Center, located at 222 Grace Church St. The event will be free and open to children of all ages. There will be free tattoos, a costume parade, costume contest and a candy giveaway. There will be no Haunted Park this year in Port Chester.
Halloween is canceled in Rye Wednesday night. According to the city, the decision was made for the safety of children due to dark streets and houses as well as downed wires. The city plans to work in conjunction with the school district to choose a new date for Halloween.
