Ruth Bell, a former Stamford resident, died Feb. 24. She was 78. Bell grew up in Wolfton, S.C., and later moved to Stamford.
After marrying her husband, William Bell, she began raising her eight children. Bell was known for her love for the sick and elderly. She worked as a certified nurses aide and as a visiting nurse in Stamford. Bell moved to Middletown in 2000, where she joined the Deliverance Haven Church. She became a member of the Mother's Board in the church.
Bell is survived by her children, Joyce, Donna and Randy Bell; her adopted daughter, Linda Armstrong Francois; and four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 2, at noon at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Stamford.
