Runners in New Canaan will go forth on the 5th this year. Because July 4 falls on Sunday, runners will lace up their sneakers for the Four on the Fifth on Monday at St. Mark's Church. Race time is 9 a.m.
Runners can pre-register for the event at the New Canaan New Balance Store, 128 Main St., through Saturday. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. All pre-registered runners receive T-shirts. The first 75 runners also receive shirts. Shady trees and a midway water stop will help runners beat the heat.
Anatolie Vartosu won last year's race. Kellie Chin captured the women's race. Runners can find out more information here.
