CORTLANDT – Route 9 has been closed for an unknown period of time due to flooding in both directions in the area of Albany Post Road. All lanes are blocked between Susan Lane and Jack Road entrances, according to Cortlandt Supervisor Linda Puglisi.

Puglisi announced the update on the town’s website, www.townofcortlandt.com, Wednesday afternoon. New York State D.O.T. project and a state highway and the New York State Police are in charge of the detour, Puglisi said.

“However, since our town roads are being used by the state for a detour I have made sure that our town’s engineering department will be reviewing the state’s repair plans and the project for the duration until completion,” Puglisi said. “I have contacted the Lakeland School Superintendent to apprise him of this situation due to school opening next week and the school bus transportation of our children.” Puglisi said the New York State Police and D.O.T. are placing a message board on the highway to stop commercial traffic through the side roads. She is urging area residents to contact the New York State Police at (914) 737-7171 or the State DOT at (845) 575-6040 for more information.
