Before retiring, Merkle worked for European Health Spa in Paramus as a masseuse for 25 years.
She is survived by her children, Linda McAuliffe of Hackensack, Barbara Merkle of Paramus and Carol De Maio; grandchildren Charles, Cori, Christen, Candice, Thomas and Danielle; and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Michaela, Nicholas, Julia and Gabriel.
Merkle was predeceased by her husband, Russell Merkle.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Ave., in Paramus. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral mass at Corpus Christi Church, 218 Washington Place, in Hasbrouck Heights. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
