His death was announced Tuesday, Jan. 6, by his family and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, which called him a "steadfast guardian of his father’s legacy." Family members said he died after a battle with cancer.

Michael Reagan was born John Charles Flaugher in 1945 and adopted shortly after birth by Ronald Reagan and his first wife, actress Jane Wyman.

He grew up in California with his adoptive parents and half-siblings, Maureen Reagan and Christine Reagan, as well as his stepsiblings Patti Davis and Ron Reagan.

Known for his outspoken conservatism, Michael Reagan became a leading voice in talk radio, hosting "The Michael Reagan Show" for more than two decades. The program shaped political conversation for millions and made him a fixture in conservative media.

He was also a frequent columnist and on-air analyst for Newsmax, where he was regarded as a founding analyst and helped establish the network’s political coverage. Michael Reagan authored several books, including "On the Outside Looking In" and "Twice Adopted," reflecting on his adoption and his relationship with the Reagan family.

The Reagan Foundation described him as someone who "dedicated his life to promoting the values and vision of President Reagan."

Aside from his media work, he chaired the Reagan Legacy Foundation, supporting scholarships and historical projects, and served on the board of the John Douglas French Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Michael Reagan is survived by his wife, Colleen Stearns Reagan, and their two children, Cameron Reagan and Ashley Reagan Dunster. He was previously married to Pamela Gail Putnam.

In a statement, the Reagan family said, "He will be remembered for his generosity, his commitment to public service, and his deep devotion to his family’s legacy."
