CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. The Radio City Rockettes will come to Cortlandt Manor today, to visit Dream Cakes bakery and Dance Expressions dance studio in Peekskill. Dream Cakes is one of five tri-state bakeries to compete in a cake design contest for the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular cake. If Dream Cakes receives the most votes on the Rockettes Facebook fan page, they and Dance Expressions will win tickets to opening night of the Christmas Spectacular.
Were working on our cake now, said Stephanie Borrell, manager of Dream Cakes. Its almost finished, and we have a few small twists that will put us ahead.
The bakery is creating a five-tier cake, which will spin clockwise while playing the Rockettes music. On the base of the cake, the entire Twelve Days of Christmas song is written in gold shimmering frosting. Dream Cakes is expecting two Rockettes to come tomorrow, between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., to taste the cake.
Dance Expressions will also have a class taught by the Rockettes members Thursday night for the second year in a row the over 200 student dance studio will host the famous dancers of Radio City Music Hall. Arleen Grafer, co-owner of the dance studio along with her two daughters, said that last year the Rockette, conducted a class and the kids followed, she showed them a routine. Then there was a question and answer period afterward, and she came fully dressed in her Rockette uniform.
If the bakery and dance studio team win, the bakery will be given eight tickets, and the dance studio will be given 42 tickets, to attend opening night of the Christmas Spectacular in Radio City Music Hall. The dance studio would also receive a dance class at Radio City Music Hall.
