Rock Around the Gazebo

Get your dancing shoes ready, Easton, there's lots of summer fun in store, with new bands and new music to enjoy. The Easton Community Center kicked off its summer concert series at the gazebo last weekend with the Easton Jazz Festival. And for weeks to come, residents will be gathering on the lawn with their picnic baskets and beach chairs swaying to the music.

String Fingers takes the stage Sunday, July 11, from 5 to 7 with their "blues Americana with a vibe and a twist." The Roylety Steel Pan Band bring its cool island sound to town Sunday, July 25, from 4 to 6. And on Aug. 8 from 2 to 4 the Wayne Hiller Octet performs hits by Frank Sinatra and other big band hits from the swing era.

Swing and top 40 hits will fill the air when Heartbeat plays on August 29 from 5 to 8. And if show tunes and sing-alongs are your thing, an "Afternoon with Megan and Tom" will keep you entertained Sept. 19 from 2 to 4.

The grand finale will be served up by HERT and Home After Dark & Novacaine on Sept. 26 from 4 to 7. These local high school bands are sure to draw crowds with their alternate sounds.
