NORWALK, Conn. Robert "Bob" G. Koenig of Norwalk died June 3 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 77.
He was born in Stamford on April 21, 1935, to Robert C. and Selma Petzolt Koenig. A mechanical engineer, Koenig was retired from Pitney Bowes. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was the husband of Eleanor Frattaroli Koenig.
Koenig was involved with Special Olympics and STAR Inc. He was also a former USS swimming official. He enjoyed golf, working with his hands and fixing whatever he was able to.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; a son, Robert J. Koenig, of Norwalk; a daughter, Deborah (Todd) Sears, of Massachusetts; a son-in-law, Thomas E. Smith; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Frances DeSalvo, of Stamford; a brother, Harold Koenig, of Torrington, Conn.; two sisters, Frances Semonich and Elsie Scanlon, also of Torrington, and many nieces and nephews. Koenig was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Koenig Smith and a brother, George Koenig.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until services begin.
