Robert C. Davis, 39, of Troy, Freddie J. Fields, 45, of Albany, and Terrell C. Welcome, 36, of Schenectady were arrested following the stop on Interstate 87 in Bethlehem at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, according to state police.
Troopers assigned to the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation while working in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, police said.
Davis was identified as the driver, while Fields and Welcome were passengers in the vehicle, according to investigators.
With assistance from State Police K9 "J," troopers searched the vehicle and discovered more than three pounds of a substance that later field-tested positive for cocaine, police said.
All three men were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, according to state police. Davis also was charged with a vehicle and traffic law violation.
The suspects were transported to State Police Albany for processing before being arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court, where all three were remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail, police said.
