Ring's End Workers Arrested in Sting

Darien police arrested two Ring's End employees last Friday in a sting operation. Philip Palma, 53, and Luis Montanaz, 50, both of Norwalk, were arrested on a warrant and charged with stealing more than $10,000 worth of materials from their workplace.

Police said they received a complaint from the yard foreman, saying that both men, who work in the woodshed, would approach customers and offer to sell materials for cash. They would then sign receipts and pocket the proceeds. After undercover officers conducted an investigation, a warrant was issued. Palma was charged with sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny. Montanaz was charged with larceny. Each posted $500 bond. Both are due in court March 7.
