DARIEN, Conn. Richard D. O'Neill of Darien died Wednesday, Aug. 22, in Darien. He was 88.
Born Oct. 28, 1923, in Stamford, he was the son of Re O'Neill and Mary Treffry O'Neill. He graduated from Stamford High School and worked for Stamford Tool and Die. He enjoyed working outdoors and visiting friends at the diner.
O'Neill is survived by three children, Robert O'Neill, of Bridgeport, Alan O'Neill, of Milford, Conn., and Diane O'Neill, of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Beth Robert, of Sarasota, Fla., and Judy Foster, of Englewood, Fla.; and two brothers, Ed O'Neill, of Englewood, Fla., and Barry Foster, of Falmouth, Mass. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann O'Neill.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien. Burial will be private.
