Rejected Wappingers School Proposition Back On Ballot

WAPPINGERS, N.Y. -- Wappingers school officials would like to have another go at purchasing a building for the district’s offices and Orchard View Alternative High School, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Students gather at the Orchard View Alternative High School, part of the Wappingers Central School District. The district is seeking a language change in a previously approved capital projects plan that would allow it to buy the building.

The district has its eye on a $2.6 million property in East Fishkill, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Voters last year rejected a referendum that would have changed the language in the district’s 2013 capital projects plan and allowed the purchase, the Poughkeepsie Journal story said.

The “change of scope” proposition will be back on the ballot in May, along with the budget and a new $27 million capital projects plan, the Poughkeepsie Journal story said.
