Reeves Going for Second Term

Last night the Democratic Party in the 143rd Assembly District that covers parts of Wilton and Norwalk made it official that Peggy Reeves will run for a second term.  “It’s a job I love, I mean I love doing it, I love the committees I serve on, and I want to continue doing all of the good things I have done,” Reeves said.

She will face Gail Lavielle, a member of the Wilton Board of Finance, who is the Republican nominee.

Reeves' talked about how Connecticut is in bad shape financially and said the state is “not out of the woods yet,” and she offered her opinion to how the state can come out of it, “We can use this crisis to reform our government, to establish a long-term goal of reducing the cost of delivering state services while preserving the quality of our life.”

In order to reshape the state government without losing any vital services, Reeves said she plans to look at some of the agencies Connecticut sponsors.  She said she believes some of them can be combined while some can be examined again to measure their success otherwise they should be re-structured to help them achieve their goal. “I think many times the same old programs are continued year after year with no one actually taking a critical eye and looking at them,” Reeves said.

Reeves made her top priority her constituency over the past two years answering as many phone calls and e-mails as she could, while trying to keep no boundaries between the people of her district and herself.

Personal attention is also important to her campaign process and credits going door to door for the reason she was elected the first time in the an assembly district known for having strong Republican ties, and last night said that she would have to do even more in order to be re-elected.
