Readers React to Hurricane Irene on Facebook

PELHAM, N.Y. – Hurricane Irene may have given way to sunny skies in Pelham but residents in the area can still feel its effects. Some readers went to The Daily Pelham Facebook page to say how the hurricane affected them and to voice their opinions about the storm.

Reader Gene Hoeltge posted that he still does not have internet access in his home, though his power has been restored.

"I have power but my landline is shorted out and separately, Cablevision for cable/internet is out in my area on Ancon (Avenue)," Hoeltge wrote.

Hoeltge said that his cable and internet provider has not given him an estimate of how long it would take to restore his service.

The Daily Pelham asked readers how they felt in the aftermath of the hurricane and if they felt the storm lived up to the hype. Jackie Miller responded that she felt Pelham was lucky that the storm did not damage the area.

"I am glad it didn't (live up to the hype) because I was kind of afraid it was going to be massively bad," Miller wrote.

What do you think about the hurricane now that you have had a few days to process it? Was it as bad as you thought it would be, or did it fall short of expectations? Comment below, on our Facebook page or on Twitter @DailyPelham.
