St. Lawrence, who was arrested April 14 on federal corruption charges, left his office during the protest. The embattled supervisor has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges, said lohud.com.
Last week, three state lawmakers from the county also called for St. Lawrence's resignation, including County Executive Ed Day who said St. Lawrence should leave his positions on the county sewer and solid waste commission. Under state law, residents can petition the court to remove elected officials for misconduct and other crimes, added lohud.com.
