“Now, to some personal news, I have decided that this will be my last week at CNN,” Solomon told viewers during "Early Start."
Solomon moved to Pennsylvania from Sudan at three years old and graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School in Upper Darby.
Solomon said only that she was excited about her new chapter and her last day would be Friday, March 27.
"For now, a huge thank you to the team here on 'Early Start.' We have covered some major breaking news during our hours... It has been an honor, it has been a privilege."
A spokesperson for CNN released the following statement to Daily Voice: "We are grateful to Rahel for all her contributions to CNN over the past four years and are supportive of her decision. We wish her all the best in her next chapter.”
Solomon is the weekday 5 a.m. anchor of "Early Start" and a business correspondent based in New York, according to her CNN biography. She reports on business and economic news across CNN’s platforms and previously served as a business correspondent for CNN International, where she covered the 2023 U.S. banking crisis, including the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, as well as the emergency takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS and the Federal Reserve’s fight against inflation.
She joined CNN from CNBC, where she appeared on programs including "The News with Shepard Smith," "Halftime Report," and "Power Lunch," according to her biography. Before that, she was a morning news anchor at CBS3 in Philadelphia and began her career at CNN as an intern in 2012 with the Special Investigations Unit in Washington, D.C., according to the network.
