Quartet Begins Annual Stamford Stint

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Lumina String Quartet will once again make its home at the Palace Theater in Stamford for two weeks, continuing a 14-year tradition. The group's “Chamber Music Institute” takes place from Aug. 1 to Aug. 14, a Stamford Center for the Arts press release said.

“In the ever-changing world of music, Lumina String Quartet’s Chamber Music Institute has been a constant for [Stamford Center for the Arts]," said Elissa O. Getto, executive director of the Stamford Center for the Arts.

At the institute, 14 quartets will work with teachers and each other. Participants also will receive private lessons and master classes and have time for practice and rehearsal.

There will be performances at the Palace Theater on Sundays. “The Festival of String Quartets” will be open to the public and tickets can be purchased at $10 by calling 203-655-8543.

The Chamber Music Institute is part of the center's Arts Education Program and is sponsored by RFR Realty, Pitney Bowes, and Purdue Pharma.
