To help get everyone in the reading mood, the library will hold a special event, "On Your Mark, Get Set, Read," from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. Events will includes games and light refreshments.
Children will also want to take part in a wide array of upcoming activities at the library including:
- Unidentified Flying Objects- Bird Identification July 2, 9 to10 a.m. -- Wish you knew more about those unidentified objects flying high in the sky? No, not those! Celebrate National UFO day with the library's bird expert Lauren Coyle as she teaches attendees about bird calls and identification. Bring binoculars if you have them, but they are not necessary to participate. Registration Required. Free.
- Children's Book Party- Regina Gelfer reads "The Kiss Box" at 4 p.m. July 7 -- Local author and graphic designer Regina Gelfer will be reading her book "The Kiss Box" and leading a coordinated craft. Recommended ages of audience members are Pre-K through Fourth grade (but adults are requested to stay for the program). Registration Required. Free.
- Animal Encounters with Bruce Lowder 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. July 16, -- Animal Expert and reptile lover Bruce Lowder is back by popular demand, bringing along some cold-blooded friends. Where else should you spend World Snake Day but at the library surrounded by scales! Registration required. Free.
