Students are heading back to school, ready to begin the 2016-2017 school year, ready for a year of homework, books and hopefully not many dirty looks from their teachers. Some schools were back in session Thursday with others going back on Tuesday.
Over the summer, Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES announced they were launching a new culinary program at Tilly Foster Farm in Brewster. There will also be future BOCES programs in environmental and veterinary science at the site.
The Brewster School District unveiled its new website on Sept. 1. The district said the site capitalizes on the latest technologies and displays on all devices and multiple editors, embedding calendars, videos, pictures, music and podcasts.
Putnam Valley held its annual summer reading challenge, with kindergartners through fourth graders participating. The reading challenge was supported by businesses throughout Putnam Valley with weekly prizes being offered. High school teachers tweeted about the books they are read this summer and the middle school suggested reading lists were posted on Facebook.
