Putnam School Budgets Pass Easily

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Voters in Putnam County overwhelmingly approved their 2016-2017 school budgets Tuesday.

Brewster's $92.8 million budget was approved 899-440. The budget increases spending 3.13 percent and increases the tax levy 1.94 percent. Incumbent Diane O’Brien was re-elected to the school board and Kristin Cacal was voted onto the board. 

Carmel's $121 million budget was approved 772-390. The budget increases spending 1.67 percent and increases the tax levy .88 percent.

Garrison's $10 million budget was approved 134-39. The budget increases spending .79 percent and increases the tax levy .16 percent. Jill Corson Lake and Derek DuBois ran unopposed and were re-elected to the school board.

Haldane's $23 million budget was approved 451-147. The budget increases spending .96 percent and increases the tax levy .73 percent. Jen Daly, Laura Hammond, and Peggy Clements ran unopposed for another term.

Mahopac's $120.1 million budget was approved 1,147-390. The budget increases spending by .10 percent and decreases the tax levy .12 percent. Michael Cazzari , Michael Mongon and incumbent Lucy Massafra were elected to the school board. 

Putnam Valley's $47.9 million budget was approved 557 to 140. The budget decreases spending by .007 percent and decreases the tax levy .28 percent. Incumbents Jeanine Rufo and Ralph Smith ran unopposed.
