Alex Sanchez-Calix, 37, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 30, after he allegedly called from inside a woman's residence, stated that he decided to move into her basement and claimed that he was armed with a gun and would hurt her and police if she reported the incident, according to a release by the Putnam Sheriff's Department.
Police said that an officer was dispatched to respond to a report of an intoxicated male with a gun at a Mahopac residence. The female who made the complaint reported that she received a phone call from Sanchez-Calix, who was currently inside her residence without permission, the release said.
On the phone, Sanchez-Calix stated that he decided to move into her residence and was calling from her basement, the release said. The woman stated that when she told the man he was not welcome at the residence, the man stated that he had a gun and would shoot the woman and any police officer who responded, the release said. The woman then fled the residence and called the police for assistance, the release said.
The officer met with the woman at a safe distance from the residence, then responded to the house with officers, the release said.
Upon approaching the residence, police observed Sanchez-Calix through a basement window and entered the premises and apprehended Sanchez-Calix without incident, according to the release.
Sanchez-Calix was not armed and stated that he was only making a threat, the release said. No firearm was located by police.
The woman stated that Sanchez-Calix had previously performed work at the residence and that she had no further personal relationship with him, the release said.
Sanchez-Calix was arrested and processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 for each charge.
