Putnam First Responders Conduct Emergency Exercises

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- Putnam County first responders along with the MTA Metro-North Railroad recently conducted full-scale emergency exercises to make sure all departments are ready for any kind of emergency response needed on the rail line, according to the Examiner News.

The Brewster Fire Department hosted the event that include a drill scenario in which a passenger train traveling north along Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem line ran into a car with passengers in the train sustaining injuries, said the Examiner News.

County Executive MaryEllen Odell observed the full-scale joint emergency exercise and state that although we never want to see this happen in real life, it had reaffirmed in confidence in the first-responders ability to be ready for any kind of event, the new site added.

The goal of the exercise was to ensure the participants familiarization with Metro-North’s Passenger Train Emergency Plan, added the News Examiner.
