An academic enrichment program coming to New Canaan Country School will help fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders improve critical thinking skills and explore the world in new and different ways. Think Beyond will be offered April 2 to May 14 and will be open to children from all area schools.
Students will work in small class settings and utilize state-of-the-art facilities across New Canaan Country Schools 75-acre campus.
Participants will be challenged through minds-on and hands-on courses such as Mini Beast Biology, CSI: Forensic, To Be or Not To Be? Shakespearean Kids, Expedition: China, ART-i-tude, Math Busters, and Digital Photo Journalism. The program helps children gain the confidence to take risks and stretch their minds beyond their traditional classroom experience, the program prospectus says.
The six-week Saturday morning sessions run from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and include two courses selected by students as well as community-based activities. There are opportunities to develop friendships with children from neighboring towns in Fairfield and Westchester counties. Parents will be invited to attend presentations at the end of each session when their children share their new-found knowledge and skills. The enrollment deadline is March 10. Cost per six-week session is $420. For further information, visit the Think Beyond website, send an email to [email protected] or phone program director Kathy Kravec at (203) 801-5890.
