NEW CANAAN, Conn. New Canaan's Andrew Campbell and former Maritime Rowing Club athlete Ben Dann, of Pound Ridge, will compete for the U.S. team in the Under 23 World Championships beginning Thursday in Amsterdam.
Campbell, a rising sophomore at Harvard, will compete in the Light Men's Single Sculls. Dann, who competes for Brown University, will compete in the Men's Single Sculls. Racing begins Thursday, with finals on Friday and Saturday.
Campbell and Dann competed for Norwalk-based Maritime Rowing Club.
"Representing the United States as a U23 sculler is something I wanted to do for a long time and I feel honored to race for my country," Dann said on the Brown University website. I was very nervous going into trials knowing there would be good competition. After earning my berth, some of that pressure has settled, but now I must prepare for even bigger challenges in Amsterdam."
