Piper the kitten is ready for adoption at the Stray Help animal care center in Fishkill, but the way she wound up there – and the way she earned her name – is what makes her unique, according to Time Warner Cable News, which reported that the feline owes her life to a concerned Poughkeepsie man and a plumber.
The man, who lives in a local apartment complex, heard the kitten’s cries from an underground pipe, but was told by the city’s animal control office that officials only respond to dog calls, according to Time Warner Cable News.
Undeterred, the man called Mr. Rooter Plumbing, which sent a plumber to the site to free to cat, according to Time Warner Cable News, which said Piper is estimated to have been stuck in the pipe without food or water for up to three days.
