Poughkeepsie High Gets Good Grades From State Ed Program

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie High School is now making the grade and will be taken off the state Education Department’s receivership list, according to a report by the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Being on the list meant that schools were in trouble and had to come up with in-depth plans for improving things and about 70 schools have improved enough to get off it, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

The city’s middle school, however, despite undertaking a new literacy initiative, is still deemed a “priority” and remains on the list, the Poughkeepsie Journal story said.
