Port Chester resident Segundo Pucha-Carchi, 56, was sentenced to up to 31 years in state prison in Westchester County Court on Tuesday, Aug. 11, following his conviction in June, Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced.
Judge Robert Prisco sentenced Pucha-Carchi to 25 years in state prison on a first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child conviction. He was also sentenced to an additional two to six years for bribing a witness, which will be served consecutively, prosecutors said.
According to prosecutors, the offenses against the 12-year-old victim occurred repeatedly between December 2023 and October 2024. During this time, Pucha-Carchi sexually abused the child, which included vaginal sexual contact.
Following his arrest, Pucha-Carchi was held at Westchester County Jail. In December 2024, he violated an order of protection and tried to influence the victim's testimony through bribery, witness tampering, and other means, according to the DA's Office.
A jury convicted Pucha-Carchi on Wednesday, June 24, of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, bribing a witness, two counts of fourth-degree witness tampering, and six counts of second-degree criminal contempt.
Cacace praised the victim for coming forward and testifying against Pucha-Carchi.
"I commend this young survivor for the remarkable courage it took to come forward and the incredible strength she showed testifying against her abuser in court," Cacace said.
The Port Chester Police Department investigated the case.
In addition to his sentence, Pucha-Carchi will also serve 20 years of post-release supervision and will be required to register as a sex offender.
