Port Chester: Vacation Spot?

When Shawn Fisher isn't traveling the world he can be found sightseeing in Port Chester. The Greenwich resident said that there's just something about the town that he and his family love. "It kind of reminds us of when you go on vacation," he said.

Fisher, an avid traveler who just returned from St. Johns in the Virgin Islands, said Port Chester always has something new and exciting to see-- or taste.

Fisher, a computer engineer, and his family enjoyed Tuesday’s sunny weather with lunch at Misti, a Peruvian restaurant, and a popsicle for dessert from Paleteria Fernandez, an ice cream shop. The group, which included his parents who were visiting from Florida, were headed to Tarry Market, a new gourmet grocery owned by celebrity chef Mario Batali and restaurateur Joe Bastianich. Fisher’s popsicle was a Mexican flavor called Nance. Though he said he wasn’t sure what the treat was made from, he couldn’t get enough of it.

"I never find it anywhere else," he said.
