Plenty To Do In Peekskill This Weekend

PEEKSKILL – From live music to local shopping, there is plenty going on in Peekskill this weekend. On Saturday, The Peekskill Farmer's Market will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Bank Street. Come shop for plants, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, cheeses and other locally made products. On Sunday, the Peekskill Attic Treasurers Flea Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Bank Street. Come search for clothes, shoes, electronics, books, video games and tons more. Also on Sunday, The Paramount Center for the Arts presents an Opera In Cinema presentation of the French opera Manon. Massenet’s passionate and tragic work Manton stars three of today’s operatic luminaries: Rolando Villazón as Chevalier Des Grieux, Samuel Ramey as his father, and Natalie Dessay as Manon herself. The performance was filmed from the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain. Sung in French with English subtitles, the show is two hours, 55 minutes long plus one intermission. The show begins at 3 p.m.

As always, there is plenty of live music to enjoy in the city this weekend at several venues. On Friday, 12 Grapes will host award-winning Blues/Jazz vocalist Nicole Hart and her all-star rhythm section from Woodstock, N.Y. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and a $5 entertainment fee will be charged for all guests, including diners. On Saturday, 12 Grapes will have New Orleans blues and funk of Otis and the Hurricanes. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and admission is $10 or $5 for diners. On Sunday, they will feature the acoustic guitar sounds of singer-songwriter Marc Von Em. The show starts at 6 p.m. and admission is free. On Sunday, The Division Street Grill will have singer/songwriter Deb Carlin Polhill and her band. The show starts at 6 p.m. and is free for patrons. On Friday, the Bean Runner Café will host jazz pianist Alva Nelson. On Saturday, the Tin Pan Band will perform their blend of jazz, blues and American popular song. Admission for both shows is $10 and seating starts at 7:30 p.m. At the Peekskill Coffee House, Jazz Blues group Papa Hawk will perform Friday and acoustic singer/songwriter Matt Turk will perform on Saturday. Both events begin at 8 p.m. and admission is free.
