Playoff Race Comes Down to Final Day

Trinity Catholic will try to clinch a berth in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference boys basketball playoffs Wednesday when it visits Wilton for a 7 p.m. contest.

The Crusaders (11-8 overall, 10-7 FCIAC) are currently eighth in the playoff race. If they defeat the Warriors (2-17, 1-16), they will qualify for the tournament. Trinity could also qualify if Harding loses its game against Brien McMahon. Harding is also 10-7 in the league. Trinity defeated Harding during the regular season and has the tiebreaker advantage.

St. Joseph, Ridgefield, Westhill, Bassick, Staples, McMahon and Stamford have already qualified for the league playoffs, which begin Saturday. The final seedings will be determined after the conclusion of regular season play on Wednesday.

First round games are scheduled to be played Saturday at Fairfield Ludlowe. The semifinals are scheduled for Monday at Webster Bank Arena, and the championship is Tuesday at the arena.
