The Peekskill Brewery will be hosting its first ever Pig-Out on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Owner Keith Barardi said the event was inspired by the book Nose to Tail Eating: A Kind of British Cooking by chef Fergus Henderson, who wrote about ways to use the parts of animals that aren't typically utilized, such as trotters, tripe, kidneys and chitterlings, to name a few.
Were using the whole pig, were making things like several different kinds of sausages, pate and head cheese, Barardi said.
Ticket buyers will not only get to try all the pork delicacies and the various side dishes, but will get to try the craft beers brewed on the premises like their chocolate stout and beers by nearby brewers such as Pleasantvilles Captain Lawrence. The event will also feature live bluegrass music.
Barardi said the brewery decided to hold the event after Fathers Day instead of the same weekend. We waited until after Fathers Day because we figured people could give tickets as Father's Day gifts, he said.
The Peekskill Brewery is located at 55 Hudson Avenue. For more information, call (914) 734-2337 or visit their website. Tickets for the event are $50 and cover food and beer.
