At 5:20 p.m., Ewing police responded to the first block of New Hillcrest Avenue and found Jimmy Chase in the street with stab wounds to the torso, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta Marbrey and Ewing Police Chief Al Rhodes said.
Chase was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead Friday morning, Jan. 9, authorities said.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
A fundraiser has been set up for Chase's family, which says Chase was murdered while teaching his three sons how to ride a bike.
This senseless act has left our family devastated and his children without their loving father," Latoya Chase, who organized the fundraiser said. "Jimmy was a good man who played a major role in our community. He was always there to lend a helping hand, and his kindness touched everyone who met him. His loss is felt deeply by all who knew him, and the pain of his absence is immeasurable. Jimmy’s greatest joy was being a father, and he worked hard to provide a safe and loving environment for his boys."
As of Tuesday, Jan. 13, more than $1,000 has been raised. To view the fundraiser, click here.
