Born in Mount Vernon, Monteforte was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. For over 15 years, he was a winemaker at distilleries in Marlboro and Amenia.
He is survived by his daughter, Rosanna Monteforte; stepsons John, Joe and Jay Verderber; longtime companion Cornelia Verderber; twin brother, Paul Monteforte; and granddaughter Ayanna Vannoy.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Mildred Monteforte.
Visiting hours were scheduled from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 So. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie. As per his wishes, he will be cremated.
