The strike occurred just before 3:50 p.m. and involved Raritan Valley Line Train 5744, which had left High Bridge about 10 minutes earlier and was scheduled to arrive in Newark at 5:11 p.m., NJ Transit Director of Media Relations John Chartier said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were unknown as of press time, Chartier said.
No injuries were reported to the approximately seven customers and crew on boar, NJ Transit said. Service is suspended in both directions between White House and High Bridge stations, NJ Transit said.
New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
