New York State Park Police responded to the bridge just after 7 p.m. on Monday following a report of a possible jumper, according to Trooper Krystal Paolicelli of the New York State Police.
The person was located a short time later by the Fort Montgomery Marine Unit, police said. Life-saving measures were attempted at the scene.
The person was then transported to a local medical facility, where they were pronounced deceased, according to Paolicelli.
No additional information is being released at this time as authorities work to notify the victim’s next of kin, Paolicelli added.
Multiple agencies, including the Piermont Fire Department's marine unit, responded to the incident, operating in challenging water conditions beneath the bridge.
