PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Rotary Club of Peekskill will host its 41st Annual Horse Show and Country Fair Sept. 24 and 25 at the Blue Mountain Reservation.
Admission and parking are free and the show will be held rain or shine. Competition and attractions will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Rotary Club of Peekskill was chartered 91 years ago and has about 85 members representing the Peekskill and Cortlandt communities. The horse show is the clubs main fundraiser, with all proceeds donated back into the community and to international humanitarian efforts.
We enjoy producing this show and are proud that it is recognized as one of the premier family events in our community, said Cliff Heaton, Peekskill Rotary president. We also are thankful for the hundreds of Rotarians who have worked so hard to make this event successful for the past 40 years.
The show is the only one in Westchester with both English and Western riding classes. There are 28 Western classes with eight championships on Saturday, and 28 English classes with eight championships on Sunday. Riders from stables throughout the tri-state area participate in the show.
Fair attractions include pony and hay rides, a country fair and craft market, bounce and slide rides for children and a Kountry Kitchen offering home-baked goods, pumpkins, apples and mums. In the food tent, Rotarians serve up burgers, hot dogs, chicken, sausage and peppers, fries, beverages, ice cream and pretzels. Breakfast is available for early-arrivers.
The Masonic Child ID Program offered by Cortlandt Masonic Lodge #34 will be offered as well. The program provides parents free of charge with a CD including a childs photo and background data to help law enforcement agencies more quickly recover a missing child.
Blue Mountain Reservation is located on Welcher Avenue off Route 9.
