PEEKSKILL -- The weather was perfect for a parade Monday morning as hundreds lined the downtown streets of the city to see the numerous marching bands, vehicles and floats taking part in this years Fourth of July parade.
The Peekskill Fire Department was unable to hold the parade in 2010 due to financial problems, but this year the parade and months of fundraising efforts proceeding it went off without a hitch.
Emergency responders from across the Hudson Valley, including Putnam Valley, Buchanan, Cortlandt and Lake Mohegan, joined Peekskill Fire Department and Ambulance Corps. Members marched from Highland Avenue to the riverfront.
Other area groups, such as the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce and The Peekskill Lincoln Society, took part in the parade with city, county and federal elected officials.
