PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Janet Elizabeth Barry, formerly of Peekskill, died Dec. 31. She was 81.
She was born in Peekskill on Oct. 27, 1930 to Helen and Frances Lippert. She attended Assumption School and graduated from Peekskill High School in 1949. She lived in Peekskill before relocating to Thiells, N.Y. in 1964 with her husband and children and then Tampa, Fla.
Mrs. Barry worked in the accounting department of Howlands Department Store. After retiring to Tampa in 1998, she volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Surviving are her daughters Linda (Richard) of Tampa and Suzanne (Alfred) Makowski, her sons Jay (Christine) Barry of Thiells and James (Janet) Barry of Montrose and seven grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, N.Y.. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home, followed by burial at Assumption Cemetery.
