Peekskill Police responded to Hudson Avenue west of Smith Street around 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, for reports of an assault in progress, the agency said. They arrived to hear screams for help coming from inside the building.
When officers entered, they found an adult woman with a visible head injury who said she had been struck with a brick and feared for her life, police said.
As officers helped her, a man pursuing her retreated into a second-floor apartment and barricaded himself inside, police said.
The woman was taken to Hudson Valley Hospital for treatment.
Peekskill officers executed a search warrant and took the suspect, Jason Blume, into custody without further incident, police said.
Blume is scheduled to be arraigned in Peekskill City Court on charges of second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Peekskill Police Detective Division at 914-737-8000 or email [email protected]. Anonymous tips may be submitted through the city’s online crime tips portal.
