PEEKSKILL, N.Y. The city kicked off the holiday season with its annual tree lighting ceremony downtown Saturday night.
Members of the Peekskill community gathered by the gazebo on Division Street to take part in Christmas carols and await the arrival of Santa Claus, who came by fire truck to help light the city's Christmas tree, donated this year by the Treptow family.
After lighting the tree, Santa dropped by the nearby Ford Piano Company to take pictures with the good little girls and boys of Peekskill.
The holiday festivities continue on Dec. 20 when there will be a Menorah lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. at the gazebo.
