PEEKSKILL, N.Y. The Peekskill Common Council took time from its meeting Tuesday night to join towns across the state in honoring the veterans of one the nations bloodiest conflicts.
Earlier this year Gov. Andrew Cuomo proclaimed March 29 to be Vietnam Veterans Day across New York, and Peekskill was one of many municipalities to receive a copy of that proclamation, which city officials had framed.
On Monday, several area Vietnam War veterans were invited to take part in a brief ceremony as the proclamation was posted in the rotunda of city hall.
