PEEKSKILL, N.Y. Residents walking around downtown may notice an increase in the number of holiday decorations this year, courtesy of city merchants.
As part of its holiday Peekskill Makes Me Merry campaign, the Peekskill Business Improvement District is sponsoring a Best Dressed Storefront contest for downtown business owners. The winner will be the shop that most creatively and stylishly decorated its storefront window to capture the spirit of the Holidays.
The idea was to make the streets of Peekskill more merry for downtown residents and shoppers, said new BID Executive Director Jason Angell.
We had 10 businesses enter the contest and they are competing for the highly esteemed 2011 Peekskills Best Dressed Storefront title and a $500 first prize to the winner, Angell said. The participants are voting on the best dressed storefront themselves. Who better to judge than the contest participants, who understand the trials and tribulations of striving for the best window?
The winner will be announced later this week, Angell said.
