PEEKSKILL The city has announced its memorial events for Sundays 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. A memorial ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the Sam Oitice Heroes Remembered Memorial and the Rotary Club Sept. 11 Memorial, both located in Riverfront Green Park.
Peekskill Mayor Mary Foster, city council members, various elected officials and special guests and city emergency responders will be in attendance.
At 6:30 p.m. there will be a memorial concert and candlelight service. Miles Jay and Michael Harvey will sing and composer and flautist Brian Taylor will present his stirring composition A Prayer for the Living with vocals, percussion and solo dance by Andrea Elam.
Taylor will be joined by Chaka and Daisy Jopling to perform Orphans, a song of hope, along with other selections. A candlelight service will follow at 7:15 p.m.
