PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Richard D. Pearson, a former longtime resident of Peekskill, died March 13 at the age of 82.
Pearson was a 50-year member of Centennial Hose Company 4 in Peekskill, where he served as captain as well as second lieutenant, first lieutenant and fire trustee.
Born in Peekskill on Nov. 28, 1929 to Edward and Elizabeth Albrect Pearson, he attended Hendrick Hudson schools. On April 20, 1952, he married Eleanor Colangelo at Assumption Church in Peekskill. She predeceased him in 1970.
Pearson served in the National Guard for nearly 40 years. Most recently of Hudson, N.Y., he was a member of the Elks Lodge and chaired several committees, including as district compliance chair. Pearson was a proud New York Mets fan.
He is survived by his wife Marian, his daughter Donna (Thomas) Giglio of Croton-on-Hudson, his son Richard Pearson Jr. of Cortlandt Manor, his stepdaughters Marie (Brian) Foster of Quakertown, Penn. and Frances (Michael) Herling of Cortlandt Manor, his stepsons Michael (Lucy) Lepore of Peekskill and Vincent Lepore of Quakertown, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepson Frank S. Lepore Jr.
Visiting is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Montrose. The funeral is at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Assumption Church, followed by a private cremation.
