PORT CHESTER, NY - The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library will be closed for renovations from Monday December 5th until January 9th. According to Library Director Robin Lettieri the renovations are long overdue.
"I'm very excited about the renovations," Lettieri said in her office on Friday, "I know the rest of the staff is excited, and I hope the community is excited as well" Lettieri added.
Lettieri, who has been the Library's director for over thirty years, acknowledged the renovation as the biggest project since the library's addition in 1967.
"We had some work done on the infrastructure in 2007," Lettieri said, "But it was nothing like this".
Among the planned renovations are two new meeting rooms, a brand new Teen room, an addition to the Children's room, an elevator, new furniture, and a general "reconstruction of the space" the library already has.
The project, which will add no square footage to the facility, will turn the current administrative office space into functional parts of the library. Lettieri confirmed that the staff work area will be relocated to the basement.
While the library is closed for renovations Lettieri encourages its patrons to utilize the county's public library co-op system. The system allows for any member of a Westchester public library to have access to any and all public libraries within the county.
